The cars are ready, the driver is ready, now we just have
to wait for the time to race. “It’s been a different
off season for us” said Hindi from his shop in Albuquerque.
“I’ve spent a lot more time in the woods than
I’m used to which has helped me to relax quite a bit
and get my head ready for the coming year. The cars are
built and ready and we’re not under the pressure we
have been in the past. We’ve sold some cars and slightly
reduced our inventory compared to previous years.”
The change comes because the high expense of fielding a
competitive team has become too much to bear alone. “We’ve
run nearly 180 races in the past 2 years and we’ve
done it mostly with family support. To continue to raise
our performance level just isn’t in the budget at
the moment.” Close to some sponsor support in the
past, the much needed help hasn’t materialized yet,
but with the recent association with WinkDog Motorsports
the outlook is positive. “Steve, Jeremy and everyone
at WinkDog have been working extremely hard helping us market
our race team. It is a tremendous load off my shoulders
to know we have a dedicated marketing group working to better
the performance of our team and show new companies the opportunities
we can provide for them.”
What does the future hold for Hindi Racing? At the moment
it includes a full schedule at Knoxville, Ia. including
the Knoxville Nationals with other area events thrown in.
“We’ll go to the WoO shows in the surrounding
area such as Kansas, Missouri, etc. Enough to keep sharp
racing but without the expense of traveling 200 days and
nights a year. We’ll probably take a few trips up
to Husets speedway in S.D as well. We intend to get back
on the road full time and that’s where WinkDog is
a great asset for us.”
