Driver: Mike Deavers
Geography: Illinois, Iowa, Missouri
Number Scheduled 2008 Races: 28
Color & Number: Red #72

Marketability Rating: 4*

Deavers has been behind the wheel since 1982. You will find this up and coming driver on the Knoxville track every Saturday night during the racing season and at the Knoxville Nationals each year.

Deavers partnered with WinkDog in June of 2007 locking a major sponsor to finance the 2007 nationals. Deavers Racing is currently in talks with WinkDog about renewing his agreement for the 2008 season.

Doggy Take:
I have seen first hand how this team handles itself. And even though most teams look at them as a shoestring operation, I can honestly tell you there is nothing shoestring about them. The team members do not get paid and even purchased their own uniforms for the Nationals and looked as good as any team there, including the WoO teams. These guys are a sponsor? dream as they exhibit the knowledge to get their sponsors the most exposure as possible, including autographs until all the fans are gone and positioning the car for maximum exposure.

Deavers Racing will again be running for points at Knoxville (IA) in which he finished 17th in 2007, which included a heat race win. Will run approximately 30 races in 2008, as the team also will run some WoO events in IL, IA and MO.

Deavers Racing will be in attendance at the 2008 Knoxville Nationals, which will have over 100,000 fans in attendance over the 4 day event. Deavers racing will get tape delayed TV coverage for the weekly Knoxville events via Comcast. Some of the WoO events may get TV coverage as well, but a scheduled has not been determined as of this writing. If enough sponsorship money is achieved, the team would like to travel to Charlotte to run the 3 day WoO Finals, which will also get TV coverage.

Career Information:

2007 410 Sprints. In the first World of Outlaw event (58 cars) in Knoxville in April, Mike got off to a rocky beginning, starting the finals in the D-Main. However, he worked his way through the pack and made the transfer to the C-Main, finishing 8th. The next World of Outlaw event Mike started was early June in Knoxville (50 cars). Mike qualified in the middle of the pack, putting him in the C-Main where he finished a very respectable 5th. June 30 saw Mike win his first 410 sprint race in Knoxville and make his first A-Main feature. He continued that streak for 6 races in a row, with a high finish of 14th. Mike currently sits 23rd in points and 4th in Rookie of the Year standings. Mike then concentrated on the Knoxville Nationals in August where 112 cars signed up for the biggest show in sprint car racing in the world.

Mike qualified 15th quick out of 56 cars on Friday night on a heavy track and started in the 10th position in his heat race. After a tough night of racing, Mike ended up finishing 11th out of 12 cars. This relegated Mike again to the C-Main, where he worked his way through cars to finish 2nd and transfer into the B-Main. Saturday turned into a double feature on a sunny day. Mike started his points scramble race in the back and only passed one car, which put him starting the Saturday night finals in the D-Main. However Mike and the team made the best out of a bad situation and passed 8 cars to finish a strong 12th place finish, earning him the Hard Charger Award for the race.

1997 - Made the jump to 410 sprints.

Ran for points at Jacksonville (IL) for 10 years, finishing in the top 10 in points 9 out of the 10 years.

Best points finish was 3rd in 2005.

Has won numerous heat races and has an A-Main best feature finish of 2nd. Has run WoO, IRA and AllStar races throughout the midwest.

Doggy Take:
DIRT INC and Chad Hillier are a young team and are taking on some very veteran WoO drivers and teams head to head. And I think they’ve made some tremendous strides. After a sketchy start to the season, they hit their stride in late May and strung together 16 straight A-Main starts and 20 out of 21 A-Mains. While their Knoxville Nationals debut wasn’t as good as they had hoped, a 6th in the D-Main on Saturday night, they knew this was a work in progress.

I spoke with Chad at the Nationals and asked him if he felt discouraged by some of his early season struggles. His reply was excellent as he said “I’m gaining so much knowledge and experience by watching the WoO veterans each and every night, I can’t be discouraged. I’m learning from the best”. And he’s right. By running every night with the WoO crew, he is gaining valuable knowledge and I look for some very good things from Chad and the DIRT INC team for the 2008 season.

Career Information:

2008 - Plans are again for the DIRT INC team and driver Chad Hillier to tackle a full World of Outlaws (WoO) racing schedule, starting in February in Florida. This team hails from the state of Washington and heads cross country to start the season, giving potential sponsors lots of mileage early in the season. The Knoxville Nationals are also on this team’s calendar for the 2008 racing season.

2007 - DIRT INC and Chad decided to hit the WoO trail fulltime in 2007 and has had some pretty good success so far. Chad’s running for the Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year Award in the WoO and is currently 2nd place in ROY points. The team currently sits 19th in WoO points heading into the August 17th race. The team has started 38 A-Main features in 58 races so far and has claimed 8 top 15 A-Main finishes, with a best of 8th. Chad recorded quick time once and has 3 B-Main wins. DIRT INC has also made A-Main features in 8 of the 11 televised WoO races so far this season.

2006 - Chad joined DIRT INC. for the National Sprint Tour for his first taste of major sprint car competition and finished 18th in points. The National Sprint Tour was a combination of one half of the regular World of Outlaws and major regional competitors. Chad recorded 2 top 10 A-Main finishes in 9 A-Main starts out of 14 races. And in a very limited schedule with the WoO, he recorded 2 top 10 A-Main finishes.

2002 - 2005, 410 Sprints.
Besides running for points at Skagit Speedway most of the time, Chad also ran a limited schedule with the Northern Sprint Tour between 2002 and 2005, earning Rookie of the Year in 2002. The limited schedule didn’t allow for a great points finish as his best was 18th. However it did help his driving talents catch the eye of DIRT INC team owner Dave DeWitt. And Dave knows talent when he sees it. He was Kasey Kahne’s car owner for a couple years until Kahne decided to move on to NASCAR. And Kasey and Dave remain friends to this day.

1999-2001, 410 Sprints.
Again, Chad moved up and proved his worth as he claimed the Skagit Speedway Championship in these cars in 2001. This made Chad the ONLY driver to win in all three sprint car division at Skagit Speedway history to date. And this is something NASCAR star Kasey Kahne didn’t even do.

1997-1998, 360 Sprints.
Chad stepped up in class in 1997 and proved himself worthy as he claimed the 1998 Skagit Speedway Championship in 1998 in this class.

1995-1996, 305 Sportsman Sprints.
Full sized version of winged sprint cars, with a smaller motor. Chad earned his first Championship in 1996 by winning this division at Skagit Speedway in Washington state.

1987-1994, 1/4 Midgets.
Chad gained experience on the dirt in these racy little machines until he turned 16 and could climb behind the wheel of a full sized sprint car.

Geography: Nationwide

Doggy Take:
Dion has ran with the WoO off and on for the past couple years. The team logs lots of miles and gets good recognition for sponsors. The HRE team picked a very tough year to try and run full time with the WoO in 2007 as there are 26 fulltime WoO teams competing for 24 starting spots each race. These guys have to RACE their way into the A-Mains. Couple that with the fact that not only do you have all the very tough WoO teams competing each night, but the locals who run full time on their respective tracks make this one of the toughest racing series in the world. Dion and the HRE team are a sponsor’s dream given the fact that “Neon” Dion is one of the most recognized drivers in the WoO, even though he isn’t a fulltimer yet. His car colors are bright, which attracts kids and adults alike. And by showing he helped a proven team like Donny Schatz’ in 2005 shows Dion
knows how to make a car run with the right budget.

Career Information:

Dion has over 50 sprint car feature wins in his career. He is a 2nd generation driver as his father, Shawkeet Hindi was a former sprint car driver and sanction champion.

2007 - Dion started out the 2007 season with enough sponsorship to participate full time with the World of Outlaws (WoO), but the sponsorship evaporated about half way through the season. Dion competed in 43 World of Outlaw shows through July 13 and recorded 22 A-Main appearances. Of those appearances, 12 were top 20 runs, including a best finish of 13th at Riverside Speedway in West Memphis, Arkansas on May 5. Dion quit running on WoO shows after the July 13th race in Eldora to focus on the Knoxville Nationals in August. So the HRE team packed up and moved to Iowa for the 3 Knoxville weekly shows leading up to the Nationals. Dion posted 7th place A-Main finishes on July 21 and July 29, along with a 12th place A-main finish August 4. And this proved valuable to Hindi as he prepared for the Nationals. Dion qualified 5th quick on his first night of the Nationals. His heat race didn’t go as planned, which relegated Dion to the B-main. But Dion transferred out of the B into the A by finishing 2nd. Dion started his first A-main at the Nationals in the 24th spot and charged to 15th place, earning him enough points to be locked into the A-Main for Saturday night’s Nationals Dion started the Nationals A-Main in the 22nd position and moved his way up to 17th by the end of the race. This was Dion’s first ever Knoxville Nationals A-Main start after many years of trying and needless to say, he was quite excited.

2006 - HRE landed enough sponsorship to join the World of Outlaws for a partial schedule in 2006 in which Dion finished in the top 20 in points. He recorded 2 Quick Times, 2 Poles, 2 Dash Wins, 2 B-Main wins and 8 top 10 A-man feature finishes running a limited schedule.

2005 - The team was anticipating moving into the World of Outlaws full time in 2005, however sponsorship could not be found for the racing season, so those plans were scrapped. So Dion took over as the Car Chief for Donny Schatz in July and the team went on to record 6 “A” main wins after he joined the team to propel Schatz into 3rd in World of Outlaw points by season’s end.

2004 - 410 Sprints. Dion ran with the SCOA, AllStars and NCRA racing sanctions. Dion finished 2nd in points with the SCOA and 2004 included 5 “A” Feature wins, 17 top 5 “A” feature finishes and 28 top 10 “A” feature finishes.
